Grand Prize for Folkies.

Grand Prize for Folkies.
An amazing prize (in Folk terms) for the best comment and answer to who is in this photo. All answers must be in the comments section at the bottom of this post.

It is not the first correct answer. It is the answer and best comment.

Benifit Concert a great success.

The Mittenburgs did a fantastic job for Saturday nights benefit concert for the folk festival in May. Excellent performances by all three bands and well a organised concert. If anyone has photo's they can send me that would be nice.

Opening of the Santa Maria Sunday 5 April.

What a great time. The first gig of the soon to be world famous Shanty Team. The Hard Tackers.

A receptive audience who sang along in the glorious sunshine enjoyed the session had a great time.

We will be back with the Santa Maria for Columbus day with what we are hoping will be a practical demonstration of how a shanty was used on board ship.

Watch this space.

Message from Charley Hummel

Attila the Stockbroker (http://www.attilathestockbroker.com) awakened one morning to the decision that his life as a pate-shorn punker was a lie. He vowed to follow the one true path of eternal hippie, Donovan, seeking truth through peace and hair power.

Samson, not yet shorn...it was actually envy of those thick and wavy locks that gave Delilah her lasting rep!

This is probably a photo from the late 1970's of the back of John Schomberg's head. It was once used in a Mad Magazine satire of those 1960's "Miss Clarol magazine ads --- does she or doesn't she?" You know, the satirical ad where it first looks like you're gazing at the back of some beautiful blond woman's head, but then "she" turns around, and you're gazing instead at Alfred E. Neuman in drag. Anyway, John, I think you look really good in that photo -- as Janet always says, it's your best side. p.s. --- you and the four other guys did a bangup job at that Santa Maria gig on Sunday.

This is the head of hair; the reason for the revival of the Broadway musical show "HAIR".

Gimme head with hair
Long beautiful hair
Shining, gleaming,
Streaming, flaxen, waxen

Give me down to there hair
Shoulder length or longer
Here baby, there mama
Everywhere daddy daddy

Hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair
Flow it, show it
Long as God can grow it
My hair

The photo is she of the golden fleece, whose Jason sails the mighty waters of Hoover Lake searching for more--gold, that is. 'Tis the lovely Janet who waits for her hard tack man from the peak of her house (which is hard because it is a one-story).
