Halfway Home ? No they are Home

Halfway Home

I will do my best to be objective about Halfway Home, but it is difficult when members of a band are friends. This is a band that has come a long way in a very short time. A short time relative to some bands.
Saturday night at the Mean Bean Worthington, ex Scotties, was another good night for the small crowd that gathered. Thankfully they had a large fan running that helped to keep the temperature down, Barn Doors played outside a few weeks ago because it was so hot inside.

One of the things that really appeals to me with Halfway Home is the variety of music and the instruments chosen to go with particular songs, that coupled with four lead vocalists results in continued change that does not give you chance to get bored.

Their new CD is due out next week, or the week after, or the week after that, or maybe next month. This is a running joke with people who know them and they themselves have turned it into a bit of fun because of the set backs. I have had the privilege of hearing the pre release and it is good. Buy it.

If I had to give any criticism at all it would be their introductions. Not so important in a bar or background music, but in an intimate setting with an appreciative audience there needs to be a few more rehearsed ad libs and spontaneous banter. There were flashes Saturday night as they relaxed. It is a small point because people were there for the music, but it is useful when you are trying to fill in time when someone is tuning up or changing instruments.

They have good bookings on the blog calendar and I am sure there are many more to come. If you have not heard them do so. You will not be disappointed.

A prize for anyone who can tell me who this hippy rocker is.
